The interviews with the 310 companies of the Community sample pointed out the following key points :
Organic products are considered as high quality products. Requirements in terms of quality control and food safety have to fit.
Packaging of organic products is an important point, as well in terms of image as in terms of chosen materials. This refers to packaging and eco-packaging features.
Organic products necessitate a precise marketing positioning. Their commercialisation needs specific marketing strategies and tools.
In order to take into account these concerns expressed, the pilot action proposes 3 workshops of 1/2 day each, dealing with the following items :
- quality control
- packaging and eco-packaging,
- marketing strategy and tools.
The aims of the pilot action are :
- to help the companies' development in a practical way and
- to create a methodology able to be reproduced with other
organic companies.
In fact, the experts made sure to give a very condensate and pragmatic training which can be applied directly in the participating companies. A methodology will be elaborated for each workshop in order to reproduce them afterwards.
The workshops took place the 7 th and 8 th of march 2006 in Barcelona.
A visit of the Alimentaria fair, international fair of food and beverages with a specific organic pavilion which took place from 6th to 10th of march 2006 in Barcelona, was proposed outside the pilot action. So, the participating companies could continue the exchanges with the professionals of the sector.
