CCID - The Drôme Chamber of Commerce and Industry

The Drôme Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Drôme C.C.I.) is the leader of the MED BIO Distri Net project. The Drôme Chamber of Commerce and Industry is deeply involved in this sector and is recognised as a frontrunner in the field. As such, it has been designated leader by:

  • The A.C.F.C.I. (Assembly of French Chambers of Commerce and Industry.), under a national plan to organise Natural Produce clubs and represent the French Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the organic Agriculture section of the National Commission for the Labelling and Certification of Agricultural products and foodstuffs,
  • The Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry as the official representative of the 12 Chambers of Commerce and Industry in the Rhône-Alps Region for the downstream development of the Organic industry.

The Chambers of Commerce and Industry date from 1599 with the appearance of the first in Marseilles under the guidance of Barthélémy de Laffemas, himself born in Drôme. The Chambers of Commerce and Industry have the particularity of being recognised as Public Administrative bodies, but are run by businessmen.

There is a national network of 155 Chambers of Commerce and Industry. These are grouped by region, under a network of 20 Regional Chambers, the C.R.C.I. (Regional Chamber of Commerce and Industry.). All the Chambers of Commerce and Industry are federated under the A.C.F.C.I.

The work of the Drôme Chamber of Commerce and Industry includes :

  • listening, researching and providing information, advising, training,
  • accompanying, following up,
  • facilitating, motivating,
  • observing, studying,
  • managing, developing,
  • planning.

It works in numerous fields :

  • Advice and company development with 7,100 clients coming from the commercial sector, 5,500 in the service sector and 3,300 in the manufacturing sector,
  • Training Centres providing training to degree level and adult and further education courses,
  • Facilities management: a marina that is the largest river port in France, a commercial port with an annual throughput of 300,000 tonnes, an airport and a wood drying plant.

The Drôme Chamber of Commerce and Industry is based on Valence and has two Drôme Provencal branch offices, in Montélimar and Nyons.
